I live in Phoenix and would love to find a fluffy mastiff. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.

Oh the fluffies are so pretty Smile
Good luck in your search.
I would start by finding breeders that I considered reputable and talking to them, if they have a fluffy pop up (not so much now that the DNA test is available) or if they hear of one, they will be thinking of you Smile

Ditto to what Missy said. Id post on a few mastiff forums and then look into the breeder that has one. Make sure they are reputable.

Some breeders dont advertise them...since its a very obvious fault. But some are very forward to advertise and sell on a spay/neuter contract.

They are adorable. One of my favorite mastiffs is a fluffy...Dona's Eliot. He is a perfect example of a gorgeous mastiff...and he looks so soft and cuddly, an added bonus! lol

Good Luck in your search!

Hi Laurie and Welcome to MOC!
Ditto on the above too, I think the fluffys are so sweet. We have a few on the board. Start by checking out good breeders.
Good luck!!!! Smile

I agree with what everyone has told you, make sure it is a reputable breeder, not a backyard breeder. These big guys can have so many problems, choosing a breeder that does all the right testing will help lessen the chance of you getting a problem plagued dog, but that also lessens the chance of a fluffy. Be prepared for a wait. I would rather wait and have a healthy happy fluffy then get one sooner and have the possibility of a Mastiff with many problems.
Ask to see all the papers on the testing, anyone can tell you it has been done, but seeing the proof will guarantee it.

WELCOME TO MOC

Thanks Mindy!!!

I got "lucky" when I was able to get Eliot. He was supposed to go to a very good friend of mine who was looking for a show puppy. When the breeder realized he was a fluffy she told my friend, who then decided that she would try and help find him a home. Well, she asked me and once I looked at his picture ( I didn't have to do my research, cause my friend already did Wink ) I knew he was going to be mine. I got him on limited registration with a neuter clause. He has made a great addition to my family. Here is a picture of him...

Here is one right before he turned 8 weeks.

And a fairly recent one

In fact, my puppy , Kizzy came from a litter where there were 2 fluffs. And they were gorgeous! Also from a reputable breeder. I guess my point is they are out there maybe not "advertised" as much due to it being a fault but if you put the word out there that you are interested you might just see that it isn't hard to find one after all. Terri, the breeder of Kizzy also has a gorgeous fluffy boy named Kodi. Smile

I will keep my ears open and if I hear of anything I will let you know. Wink

LOL@ Eliot's baby pic...he was so freakin adorable haha. Hard to imagine he was that small!

If I were you...I would build a repore with some good breeders. You have to becareful how to approach them though. Make sure to let them know you want a pet...so they dont get confused with your intentions.

There is some ppl out there wanting to market the fluffy, with the purpose of financial gain, cause lets be real, they are rediculously cute lol.

Im sure if you get in touch with some breeders, they usually are in the loop of who/where the fluffies are. But like it was said, with the testing now, I think the chance of a fluffy will be less.

But if it was meant to be.....

Again good luck! I love that pic of Eliot haha, he looks so soft and cuddly. No wonder you are looking for a fluffy!

Laurie,
I'm sorry you didn't find this site a couple of months ago. I had a litter whelped on 3 April that had 2 fluffies in it - one fawn and one apricot. (Both parents were carriers so I was well aware of the possibility.) It was NOT difficult to find wonderful homes for them.

Unfortunately, like Mindee said, with the test now available, the chances of fluffies in the litters will be drastically reduced. Breeders adamantly opposed to fluffies will chose to never breed even a carrier.

Personally, I think that's a shame (okay gang - no rotten tomatoes). I feel a fluffy can have so MUCH to offer and is MUCH more desirable than a dog with bad structure. I wouldn't hesitate to use a fluffy in a breeding if he/she had a lot to offer otherwise. I have one I would DEFINITELY breed to the right bitch.

Having said that (and ducking), I will keep you in mind Laurie, if I hear of a litter with fluffies. I do happen to know several breeders who would breed two carriers or even a fluffy, and simply find good homes for any that pop up.

This is the fawn fluffy from my litter (PJ):

This is the apricot fluffy from my litter (Thor):

These are my Kodi as a baby:

This is my Kodi now (right after a bath! Shocked ):

I would also take the correct fluff over the incorrect short coated mastiff any day of the week. Very Happy

Laurie, I hope you able to find a fluffy puppy to love. You won't be disappointed. Wink

There are a few fluffy puppies posted on mastiffshowsight.com - look under litter announcements. The info is from the 21st but maybe they are still available...

There is one breeding on there with fluffy pups that are about 8 weeks old right now, but I wouldn't get one. I would RUN away from it.Fast. If you want more info , you can PM me.

I meant an incorrect short coat as in the dog's conformation.

I'd take a structurally correct fluffy over an incorrect "short" coat anytime.
