I got this email today. I don't know these people or any details of their situation other than what is in the email.

We have a male, un-altered, 2.5 year old English Mastiff. AKC registered with Champion Bloodlines. We have to move from SE KS to Lees Summit MO and cannot take him. He is a loving indoor dog and loves cats and kids

I called and left a message for her. Maybe if we can get more info, we can help them out.

I'll let you know when I hear back from her.

Sorry... we can't do "private re-homing" on the forum.

John, can you encourage this person to get in touch with a Mastiff Rescue so the dog can be properly evaluated?

Jonna Johnston would be a good one for that area to contact cabaretsimonthorton@yahoo.com
785-760-0992

I'm not sure what others work in that area, but I will pass this info along to some of the rescue workers in this area and see if anyone can help.

We just can't have individuals rehoming dogs on MOC.... they need properly evaluated.... we wouldn't want someone with a good heart stepping up to take a dog that ended up with extreme aggression problems, etc... unfortunately when owners are trying to get rid of a dog, they aren't always completely up front about temperment issues. Sad

I sent the info out to a group of rescuers in this area, including Jonna.... we'll see if we can get this boy evaluated.

I just found out that this person is a member here.... so I will contact them.

Just food for thought.... we have a LOT of lurkers that we do not know at all... posting a note like this about an unaltered male with champion bloodlines could easily get a response from a puppymiller and the dog could wind up in a very bad situation. It's best to leave contact info off of these types of posts. Wink

It's really best to get qualified people/rescuers involved to eval both the dog and the "new family" so that it all works out as best as possible for the dog. Smile

Good points Mary. I received this email today and thought I would post it here to try to help them out. I never gave it much thought. I'm not sure why they even contacted me, except possibly because I am in Missouri and they are moving here. Anyway, sorry for causing trouble. No harm intended. I do hope they find a good home him. Thanks for getting Mastiff Rescue involved.

Just an update to let you all know that this dog is now in a loving home that has passed rescue evaluation.

I want to thank the rescue workers that networked together to make this happen... and to Moriah for helping us communicate with the owner.... and to the owner for doing the "right thing", even though it was sad for her to give up her dog. I hope it gives her comfort to know that if she could not longer keep him, at least he is with a wonderful loving family.
